Read Principles of a story by Raymond Carver published in the September edition of Prospect magazine

National Short Story Prize

The largest award for a single short story in the world. £15,000 for the winning story, £3,000 for the runner-up and £500 for the three other shortlisted stories.

The 2007 National Short Story Prize

Once again, the National Short Story Prize is being funded by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and supported by BBC Radio 4 who broadcast the shortlisted stories and Prospect Magazine who will publish the winning entry in May 2007.

The 2007 National Short Story Prize opened for entries on 18 August 2006. Full terms and conditions of entry and details of how to enter are available on the BBC website.
